Who is Yuanwu?
Yuanwu is a 4★ Electro Defense agent using Gauntlets and a unique utility support in Wuthering Waves. His signature mechanic is Lightningbolt Tower — he summons a stationary lightning tower that triggers coordinated Electro hits whenever the active character performs Normal Attacks. This off-field coordination provides passive Electro DMG and mild disruption to enemies. His Outro provides an Electro DMG Bonus to the next character. He is a niche Electro team support, primarily used in Xiangli Yao or Yinlin teams where his passive Electro procs contribute to Void Thunder set stacking.

His tower mechanic is passive and does not require active play — simply deploy via Resonance Skill and the tower handles the rest.
In competitive play, Yinlin (limited 5★) significantly outperforms Yuanwu as the Electro Sub-DPS/Support. Yuanwu is a solid placeholder until Yinlin is obtained.

How does the Lightningbolt Tower work?
When Yuanwu uses his Resonance Skill, a stationary lightning tower spawns near the targeted enemy. Each time the active character performs a Normal Attack hit on the target, the tower fires an Electro bolt dealing Electro DMG. Multiple towers can be active simultaneously with Liberation. The towers require no further player input after deployment.
Is Yuanwu a good Xiangli Yao partner?
He is a workable budget partner before Yinlin is obtained. Yuanwu's tower provides consistent off-field Electro procs (contributing to Void Thunder stacking) and his Outro Electro buff amplifies Xiangli Yao's burst. Yinlin is a massive upgrade via Judgment Marks, but Yuanwu covers the role adequately for all non-competitive content.
Can Yuanwu support non-Electro teams?
His tower procs deal Electro DMG regardless of the active character's element, providing modest cross-element Electro damage. His Outro Electro buff only benefits Electro-element characters. Outside Electro teams his value is minimal.
