Who is Lingyang?
Lingyang is a 5★ Glacio DPS using Gauntlets and one of the launch limited 5★ characters in Wuthering Waves. His kit revolves around Lion Dance — a summoned lion spirit companion that he directs during his Resonance Liberation, enabling an extended aerial Glacio burst sequence. He was initially considered undertuned for a 5★ due to positioning difficulties and long animation locks, but subsequent patches improved his survivability and damage output. While no longer top-of-meta, he remains a valid Glacio DPS for players who obtained him at launch.

Is Lingyang worth pulling now that Carlotta exists?
For new players choosing their first Glacio DPS, Carlotta is the stronger and cleaner investment. Lingyang's Liberation has more animation lock and positioning sensitivity. However, if Lingyang reruns during a gap when Carlotta is not available, he remains a solid option.
Why was Lingyang considered weak at launch?
His Resonance Liberation requires aerial positioning that could be interrupted by enemy attacks, cutting the duration short. This positioning sensitivity made him frustrating to play at high difficulty content. Patches improved his aerial survivability and added some damage multipliers.
What is Lion Dance?
When Lingyang activates his Resonance Liberation, he summons a lion spirit companion and enters a shared aerial combat state. During this time, his Normal Attacks transform into rapid Gauntlets aerial combos guided by the lion, dealing Glacio DMG with each hit. Completing the full aerial sequence without interruption is his peak burst window.
