Who is Adler?
Adler is a T1 Incantation-attribute support character who brings shielding, Break Intensity buffs, and Incantation DoT to any team. His shields persist through character swaps, boosting the team's durability without demanding field time. His primary role is to wield The Great Thief Arc to buff the entire team's Break Intensity, increasing break damage across all teammates. At A6 his shield additionally increases Incantation DMG for the shielded character, making him especially effective in Scorch and Discord teams where multiple Incantation characters are present. Prydwen notes he "fits nicely into the break-focused Scorch team" and provides "shielding at 75% uptime."

Summons Sunya phantoms to strike enemies, dealing Incantation DMG to an area and inflicting Incantation DoT, while granting the active character a shield (Blessing).
Carries over through character swaps — team-wide shielding without permanent field time.
Shield also increases the Incantation DMG of the shielded character.
Increases Break Intensity by 70 for all characters of the same Esper Type — the core reason to use Adler in break-oriented teams.
Applies DEF-reducing debuffs and increases break efficiency on top of shielding.

What is the Scorch reaction?
Scorch triggers when Chaos and Incantation attributes are both active on the team. It inflicts DoT on enemies. Adler (Incantation) + Daffodil (Chaos) + Baicang (Incantation) cycle their attacks to stack and maintain Scorch — Adler's Break Intensity buff from The Great Thief Arc increases the damage of each break proc.
What is the Discord reaction?
Discord triggers when Chaos + Psyche + Incantation are all present on the same team. It drains enemy Break gauge, accelerating break sequences. Adler contributes the Incantation coverage needed to enable Discord in triple-reaction teams.
Does Adler need field time?
Very little. His shield carries over through swaps, so the bulk of his value is delivered off-field. His main field commitment is casting his Skill to refresh the Blessing shield and apply DoT. He is a very rotation-efficient support.
